The winner of a Tony Award for Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is the 2001 stage adaptation of George Roy Hill's 1967 movie comedy. Set in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love. Problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China. She meets New York paper clip salesman Jimmy Smith and they eventually fall in love.
